Welcome to St. John’s New Vicar Rev Capt. Nick Green CA

Nick is a former insurance broker from Bolton, Lancs. He and Andrea have been married for nearly 30 years and have three grown up children.

Nick has a powerful conversion story of his own and is driven to share with others the hope that changed his life. In 1998 Nick joined Church Army (www.churcharmy.org) and moved the family to Sheffield to train at the Church Army college. His first post was with the Church Army Bus Project, which used a converted 1966 double decker bus as a platform for outreach in the market towns of North Yorkshire. Following on from that Nick led an ecumenical project with various churches of different denominations on the largest private housing estate in Europe in Stockton on Tees, creating new ways of doing church.

Nick was ordained at York Minster in 2008 and appointed Pioneer Minister in Middlesbrough, again without a church building, doing lots of innovative and exciting things out in the community of Coulby Newham. Among other things he and Andrea opened a drop-in Listening centre on the shopping mall, bought, and with a small team of helpers, refurbished, resprayed, and equipped another double decker bus, and used it as a mobile outreach centre around Middlesbrough.

Following that he led St Margaret’s Church, Brookfield, in Middlesbrough, in reaching out into the community. In 2013 he was appointed Rector of St Mary’s Church Dunblane, where he enjoyed leading the church into a new season of missional development and growth.
