Helen Miller and Philip Stuart are the masterminds behind a great new business which was established in November last year. ‘The Horse and Jockey’ offers a full mobile bar service that can be sited at your event. They just pop up the serving hatch and the party can begin.
The sister and brother were both having similar thoughts, Helen a Prosecco Bar and Philip a Gin Bar, when after discussing their plans at a local football match they decided to combine their ideas and create a high quality vintage mobile bar.
They then spent some time designing the interior to ensure that they could provide the required services that their customers would demand. The trailer was then moved to Philip’s workshop garage where he carried out all the internal refurbishment. “During the refurbishment stage we were keen to retain the vintage feel of the original trailer whilst combining this style with modern fixtures and fittings to give the bar a real wow factor” says Philip.
The bespoke interior includes all modern bar fittings including pumps, refrigeration, ice making, highly polished solid oak bar top and shelving, LED lighting, once hooked up to the mains the horse box is transformed into a fully mobile bar. After the installation of a catering serving hatch the bar was professionally resprayed and the transformation was almost complete. The final piece of work is to be carried out by local sign artist Russ Young who has been working with the pair to create customised branding for the business and will be completing the sign written artwork on the horsebox.
The Horse and Jockey Bar carries a full stock of drinks, Frizzenti Vino Frizzante and Frizzenti Vino Rosato on draft, a fine selection of bottled Proseccos, a carefully selected Gin and Tonic menu, a range of Vodkas, delicious Cocktails, Craft Beers and Lagers and a range of soft drinks. Plus they tailor the package to suit your specific requirements.
“The family run bar is staffed by ourselves, family and friends, daughters, nieces, nephews etc all available to help out and offer first class bar services in any location” says Helen. “We have already booked events, we’ll be at Rufford Abbey Great Food & Drink Festival in May 2018 where James Martin will be attending and we’ll be at a number of the Ido Wedding Exhibitions in the area, so if you’re going along please drop by for drink and check us out.”
I asked how licencing works, and can the bar be used in any location? “Yes, we can set up more or less anywhere, we’ll arrange the temporary events licence and can attend weddings, parties, marquees, tipis, festivals, music festivals, food and drink festivals, corporate events, street parties, agricultural shows, horse shows, your driveway, back garden or field! Anywhere that we can get access to with the trailer, we can run an event.”
“We are totally flexible with our packages, we can provide a cash bar catering for small or large numbers, set up a free to use bar for your guests or provide a welcome drinks package at your event. Whatever your requirements, just talk to us and we’ll arrange something that fits your events needs.”
We wish them all the best with the new venture and look forward to seeing them at an event soon.
